The Gig Calendar

The calendar gives you a day by day view of what gigs are on.  Some open mic gigs run on funny timetables - every three weeks, or two weeks every month, and so on; and others are a little irregular - in a way that even Activia won't help.  It's not easy to translate the information about how often a gig runs (the kind of thing you would put in The Gig Guide) into an actual date.  That's where The Gig Calendar comes into play: individual gigs (or regularly repeating ones)  set up so that you can see when they are actually happening.  And in some cases, depending on how much effort has been put into them, showing a list of who is performing.

If you click directly on The Gig Calendar, you get presented with the "year" view, which is a list of all forthcoming gigs for the next 12 months, although it doesn't try to show them all at once.

The options under The Gig Calendar allow you to see what is on today, this week, and this month.  Handy if you're planning a night out with friends, or looking to perform somewhere.

Registered users also get the option of adding an event to the calendar, although you do have to ask to be set up first, which you can do by dropping a message to "Web Master" using the Private Messaging system.

The entire calendar can be downloaded as an iCAL ICS file so that you can put it into your own calendar tool, e.g. Google Calendar, Outlook, etc.  It's a little outside the scope of these help files to go into detail about how to use ICS files, so if that whole thing is a mystery to you, it's probably best not to worry about it.
