Big screen, big opportunity

E-mail Print

There are still places available for anyone interested in giving their comedy career a massive boost by appearing in a feature film set around a comedy competition.  If you can deliver a few minutes of squeaky clean comedy, then have a look at the web site, get in touch with the film's producers, and get yourself on the silver screen.  Filming will take place on the 15th of May in central London.  See http://www.thesqueakies.com/ for full details.

Very exciting film project

Some very exciting news has come our way about a forthcoming film project centered around stand-up comedy, and providing an opportunity for some folks on the open mic circuit to get major public exposure.  We'll be posting more details as soon as we have them, but in the meantime, just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who is interested.

One of the key things that the producers are looking for is people who can do a few minutes of clean material - ideally family friendly stuff.  You don't even have to have a full 5 or 10 minute set.  If you can do 3 minutes of the right kind of material, you could be right for this.

There will be an audition for those interested, and then a day of filming, all due to take place over the next few weeks.  We'll post up the information from the people running this project as soon as we get it, and with a bit of luck, some of you could find yourselves on the big screen before too long.

Gig Information

The site provides as much information as we can about all the gigs we know about.  And that is actually quite a lot of information, so it makes sense to break it down into different areas.  Under Gig Information you'll find these options:

  • Latest reviews - reviews of gigs submitted by members of the site
  • Facebook Updates - all the information we get through from Facebook about gigs, including event invitations, and messages to Facebook groups
  • New Gigs - a summary of new gigs recently added to The Gig Guide
  • Cancelled Gigs - if we hear of any gigs that have been cancelled, we pop a note in here
  • Venue Changes - likewise, if we hear of any venue changes, we'll post an update here

What's On

E-mail Print

The What's On panel on the right shows gigs that are on today and tomorrow.  It is pulled directly from The Gig Calendar.  It probably only shows a few of the gigs you'll find on the site, because not every gig is regular enough for inclusion a a weekly repeating event, and only a few gig promoters actually add details of specific gigs into the calendar.  But it gives you a flavour of what's on.

If you run a gig and you want it to appear here, add the details into the calendar and it will show up.  If you don't have the right access to add gigs to the calendar, drop an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll get you set up.

For the technically minded, you can also set yourself up with access to this information via an RSS feed.  There's a link for that at the bottom of the panel.
